Asante Kotoko beat Samartex to enter top four
Asante Kotoko secured a crucial 2-1 victory against Samartex in the Ghana Premier League match week 22.
The visitors produced a scintillating performance that saw them score two first-half goals to take control of the game.
Enoch Morrison broke the deadlock in the 18th minute, capitalizing on a fantastic team move. Shortly after, Rocky Dwamena doubled the lead, silencing the home fans.
In the second half, Kotoko was dealt a blow when Dwamena had to leave the pitch after a reckless challenge.
Despite Samartex’s best efforts to mount a comeback, the visitors remained resolute in defense, and goalkeeper Frederick Asare made an impressive save from a Samartex free kick.
The home side finally got on the scoresheet in the 90th minute through Ebenezer Acquah, but it was too little too late to change the result.
Asante Kotoko’s win lifted them to the third position on the league table with 34 points.
