Late Ghanaian international Christian Atsu’s eldest son, Joshua Twasam, has been awarded Player of the Year in the Northumberland Football League.

Competing in the Under-9 category for Gosforth Football Club, Joshua showcased exceptional skills and talent throughout the season. His team emerged victorious in the Pro Motiv8 Tournament’s final in February.

Joshua’s impressive performances have garnered attention, establishing him as one of the standout players in his team. Following in the footsteps of his late father, a renowned footballer, Joshua displays great promise on the pitch.

The Northumberland Football League, hosting Mini Soccer & Youth leagues and programs in England, provides diverse opportunities for children and teenagers of all backgrounds, abilities, and genders to participate in football.

Christian Atsu tragically passed away in an earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria. Ghana paid tribute to him with a State burial at the Forecourt of the State House.

Throughout his career, Atsu made significant contributions to Ghanaian football, representing the national team in 65 matches and scoring nine goals.

Notably, he scored memorable goals in the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Egypt and the quarter-finals of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

Joshua Twasam’s recognition as Player of the Year in the Northumberland Football League reflects his potential and upholds the legacy of his late father, Christian Atsu.
