In a significant display of community support, the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North Constituency, Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku, alongside a group of African American friends, has donated assorted medical supplies to the Kwawprow Health Centre in Cape Coast.

A brief presentation ceremony was held at the forecourt of the facility on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Dr. Nyarku, popularly known as Ragga, disclosed that he has personally contributed to the ongoing construction of a new health centre behind the current facility. Notwithstanding this effort, he noted that the existing structure still requires essential supplies, prompting him and his associates to intervene.

“When I realised the facility needed help, I spoke to Madam Serapher Halevi about it,” he recounted. He explained that she and her colleagues, who are health professionals in the USA, decided to present these items to the facility. The donation included pampers, sanitary pads, crutches, wheelchairs, and other essentials.

Urging the facility managers to maintain the items properly, Dr. Nyarku cautioned, “Most times, it becomes very disturbing when you are told that donated items have spoilt within a short time. Please take good care of these items so that more people can benefit. We either buy these items ourselves or rely on others to donate them to you,” he admonished.

In receiving the items, the officer-in-charge of the facility, Physician Assistant Angel Agyapong, extended appreciation to the chief and people of Kwawprow, and especially to the MP for his monumental contributions to the health centre over the years. He noted that since the facility was upgraded from a CHIPS compound to a health centre, Dr. Nyarku has been actively supporting the construction of a new edifice befitting their current status.

“I thank the people of Kwawprow and Dr. Minta Nyarku for his continuous support to this facility,” he said. He also acknowledged the efforts of the foreign philanthropists who, through the MP, chose to support them.

Additionally, he expressed gratitude to his Director of Health, Dr. Ofosu Samuel, for ensuring that all required items reached them.

Touching on the donated items, Dr. Agyapong noted that they had come at an opportune time, given the increasing number of patients visiting the facility. On the project’s completion, he appealed to other well-meaning Ghanaians and philanthropists to assist in expediting the construction work.

Speaking on behalf of the African American group, Madam Serapher Halevi explained that after a conversation with the MP about the health facility’s needs, they mobilised as health professionals to procure the items and ship them to Ghana for presentation through the MP.

She expressed delight at the warm reception they received, stressing that their visit was not merely to experience Ghana’s castles but to extend meaningful support to its people.
