Ghana’s chart-topping music sensation Black Sherif has found himself at the center of a growing legal storm, as reports emerge that an Adentan District Court has dragged the award-winning artiste into a heated GH¢229,500 rent dispute.

The “Kwaku the Traveller” hitmaker is alleged to have defaulted on rent payments for a high-end Accra property, with the landlord identified as Dr. Evelyn Esi Awittor claiming the arrears have been piling up since August 2024. According to court filings, the unpaid rent has now ballooned into a staggering six-figure amount.

Things took a dramatic turn after attempts to personally serve Black Sherif reportedly failed, forcing the court to approve substituted service. Legal documents were allegedly posted at the property and on the court’s notice board, allowing proceedings to move forward even in the musician’s absence.

Reports further claim the court directed Black Sherif to settle the GH¢229,500 arrears and continue paying monthly rent until he vacates the premises. However, other sources insist the matter is still unfolding and yet to reach a final judgment.
