The founder and leader of Zion Prayer Ministries International, Prophet Jedidiah Henry Kore, popularly known as ‘Fire Oja,’ has been granted a GH¢50,000 bail with two sureties in a defamation lawsuit filed by veteran musician Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, known professionally as Mzbel.

Mzbel emphasized that she initiated the legal action to defend her reputation. “I initiated this action to protect my name, reputation, and professional work,” the statement read.

The musician affirmed her faith in Ghana’s legal system, stating, “This matter is currently before the court, and I have full confidence in the judicial process.” Out of respect for the court, she has chosen to refrain from further public commentary on the substance of the case.

In a demonstration of solidarity and support for his constituents, the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South, Kweku George Ricketts-Hagan, donated 400 streetlights to Assembly Members and supported Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs FC with one hundred thousand cedis, aimed at illuminating the constituency and assisting the football club to qualify for Ghana’s Premier League, respectively.

The dual donation exercises commenced with the donation of streetlights at the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly premises on Saturday, January 24, 2026, with each of the members receiving 10 lights each, with the remaining reserved for backup purposes.

Hon. Ricketts-Hagan, speaking to journalists, mentioned that following his initial meeting with the Assembly Members, it was revealed that one of the major challenges facing the constituency was darkness

“One of the problems was that the communities were not well-lit”, he said, underscoring “That is unacceptable, and I pledged to provide streetlights to address the lighting issue”. The MP disclosed that this constitutes the initial instalment of 400 streetlights, committing to continue the initiative in subsequent years.

Ricketts-Hagan emphasized that this consignment was part of the government’s support to his constituency, and his role was to advocate for its allocation. “I have been lobbying for over a decade and have been able to bring this to my people; I will continue to do more”, he promsied.

He, however, seized the moment to caution the members of the assembly to refrain from selling the lights they are required to use to illuminate their electoral areas. He emphasized that some of them sell the lights, and he advised them to refrain from doing so, as it is an affront to their honourable title.

The Metropolitan Chief Executive Officer for Cape Coast, George Justice Arthur, speaking on behalf of the Assembly Members, commended the MP for his generous donation, urging the assembly members to utilize the lights for their designated purpose of illuminating the constituency.

He expresses gratitude to the MP for his assistance in providing streetlights to benefit approximately 30 communities within the constituency. “We extend our appreciation to our MP and the president for their support, ensuring every community receives adequate lighting,” he emphasized.

Following the streetlights donation, the Member of Parliament, accompanied by his entourage, proceeded to the A. M. E. Zion Memorial SHS park to boost the morale of the Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs FC. Hon Ricketts-Hagan commenced his address by extending new year greetings to the playing body and management, invoking God’s blessings to fulfill the aspirations of all present.

The MP urged the playing body to deliver their optimal performance in tomorrow’s match, reminding them of the profound implications this would have for the entire Cape Coast. According to him, he was there to express solidarity with them and encourage them to secure a victory in tomorrow’s match.

“Tomorrow’s match is a must-win, not a draw, he reminded them. You must win at all costs, he reiterated, adding, “Once you’re at the top of the league log, then whatever we can also do to assist in qualifying for the Premier League will be done”, he promsied the team.

The Cape South MP pledged to support the team with ¢100,000.00 by donating ¢50,000 in cash and a cheque for ¢50,000 to cover the ¢100,000.

“The hundred thousand should be allocated, with 50,000 for the playing body and 50,000 for management”, he stated. “The initial 50,000 cash should be divided into two: 25,000 to the management and the other half to the playing body”.

On the team’s history, the MP reminded them that Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs FC was established in 1932, a year that predates the country’s independence. “Such a team cannot afford not to be in our premier league, he stressed, emphasizing that “your inability to play Premier League football has rendered our state-of-the-art stadium redundant,” he emphasized.

He reminded them of their obligation to return to the Premier League in order to maximize the utilization of the Cape Coast Sports Stadium. “This is one thing that the residents of Cape Coast would take pride in,” he observed.

Mr. Nathaniel Appiah Sam, Captain of Mysterious Edusua Dwarfs FC, expressed gratitude on behalf of the players to the MP for his gesture, assuring him of a win with divine favour. “It is every player’s aspiration to compete in the Premier League; we pledge to deliver our best performance and, with God on our side, secure a victory in tomorrow’s game,” he stated.

The Nae We Arbitration Court, the highest traditional adjudicating body and custodian of Ga customs, has adjourned its hearing in the contentious case between spiritual herbalist Ola Maame and pastor Jedidiah Henry Kore, popularly known as “Fire Oja.” The case stems from alleged defamatory remarks made by Fire Oja against Ola Maame and veteran musician Mzbel.

At the opening session on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, presided over by Nuumo Akwaa Mensah III (the Nae Wulomo), Fire Oja presented his witnesses, who were subsequently cross-examined. After hearing from both parties, the court deferred its ruling until Thursday, January 29, 2026.

However, a viral video has since emerged on social media falsely portraying the case as concluded in the pastor’s favor. The footage shows a parade by Fire Oja’s supporters, who are heard taunting Ola Maame and repeating the very defamatory statements under arbitration.

Authoritative sources close to the proceedings confirm that the court has issued no judgment on the substantive matter. The purported victory celebration is, therefore, a complete misrepresentation of the judicial status.

“This parade is a charade, a deception, and an affront to traditional authority,” a spokesperson for Ola Maame stated, urging the public to disregard the video.

Observers and traditional adherents have expressed dismay at the pastor’s actions, viewing the premature celebration as disrespectful to the arbitration process. As both parties await the official verdict, the incident has raised questions about the motives behind spreading misinformation while the court’s deliberation is still pending.

The public, especially supporters and clients of Ola Maame, are advised to treat the viral video with contempt and await the legitimate ruling from the custodians of Ga tradition.

In a significant philanthropic move, Latif Hamilton, Chief Executive Officer of the popular Matlat Hotel, has fully refurbished the Emergency Ward of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital.
The initiative aims to enhance emergency medical care for the community and motivate healthcare professionals.

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony on Monday, January 19, 2026, Hamilton stated the gesture was a “solemn responsibility” to revitalize a crucial public facility. “This renovation is our contribution to ensuring better emergency services for the people of Cape Coast,” he said.

Highlighting a critical challenge, Mrs. Faustina Hamilton, the founder’s wife, explained that the donation also seeks to incentivize medical professionals to accept postings at the hospital. “We are aware that some doctors and staff are reluctant to work here due to the conditions,” she observed. “By improving the infrastructure, we hope to attract qualified personnel to serve this community.”

She further appealed to the government and other public-spirited citizens to support the hospital, noting its strategic importance due to its proximity to St. Augustine College and other schools.

In his appreciation, the Acting Medical Superintendent, Dr. Vincent Kudor, thanked the Hamiltons and echoed the call for broader support. “Poor facilities have unfortunately led to a reduction in patient attendance,” he revealed. He made a passionate appeal to both private and public sectors to assist with further renovation, emphasizing the need for corrosion-resistant materials to withstand the coastal sea breeze.

The benefactor, Mr. Latif Hamilton, urged others to follow suit. “I appeal to the government and individuals to help restore this hospital to its former prestige,” he stressed. “I hope our act inspires similar contributions.”

A sentiment echoed by a concerned citizen at the event, who questioned the commitment of other affluent individuals in Cape Coast, suggesting local businesses should reinvest in the community’s wellbeing, not just profit from it.

After years of abandonment and persistent public concern, the long-neglected bridge linking Busua and Dixcove in Ghana’s Western Region is finally undergoing a major rehabilitation, bringing renewed hope to residents and commuters who rely on the vital route.

The bridge, which had deteriorated into a dangerous state over the years, posed serious safety risks to motorists, pedestrians, and traders. Relief is now in sight. Recent site visits indicate significant progress on the rehabilitation works, with construction steadily advancing. The development has sparked excitement and optimism among residents, many of whom describe the project as long overdue after years of appeals and complaints.

According to information available, the bridge is expected to be fully completed by the end of January 2026. Once finished, it is anticipated to greatly improve road safety, reduce travel time, and restore confidence among road users along the Busua – Dixcove corridor.

The bridge serves as a crucial link for communities within the Ahanta West enclave and surrounding areas, supporting tourism, fishing, and local commerce in the Western Region. Its facelift is expected to rejuvenate economic activities and strengthen connectivity between coastal towns.

As work continues, residents are hopeful that the renewed bridge will not only stand the test of time but also symbolize renewed attention to infrastructure development in the Western Region ensuring safer travel and improved livelihoods for years to come.
