Veteran Ghanaian gospel musician Bernice Offei has died at the age of 63, according to reports from multiple Ghanaian media outlets.
Citi Newsroom reported on Saturday, September 12, 2026, that the celebrated gospel musician died earlier that morning, citing sources familiar with the development.
GBC Digital has also reported her death, saying the news was announced on Facebook by fellow gospel musician Nii Noi. Gospel music producer Kwesi Ernest also confirmed the passing in a tribute, describing Offei as a gospel music legend.
The news comes just days after Bernice Offei was reported missing in Accra, sparking widespread concern among her family, friends, colleagues and fans.
She was reported missing after she was last seen on Tuesday, September 1, around Nyaho-Tamakloe Street in the Agbogba area of Accra. Her family and members of the gospel music community appealed to the public for information that could help locate her.
She was subsequently found, with reports at the time saying she had been reunited with her family. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance and subsequent discovery were not publicly disclosed.
Bernice Offei was one of the respected veteran voices in Ghana’s gospel music industry, with a career spanning several decades. She was known for songs including “Life Is Short,” “Hold On,” “Kaa She Gbeyei,” “Odo A Wodo Mi Nti,” “Nyame Kokroko,” and “N’adom Ara.”
