The Mokwa Model Health Centre in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region has received medical equipment and supplies valued at more than GH¢10,000 from the Friends Forever Club, a social organisation based in Cape Coast.
The donation, which included mobility aids and basic medical monitoring equipment, was presented on Saturday, September 19, 2026, during a courtesy visit to the Chief of Mokwa.
The initiative formed part of the club’s philanthropic efforts to support institutions and communities that require assistance.
Medical items donated
Among the items presented to the health centre were wheelchairs, walkers, weighing scales, blood pressure monitors, blood glucose monitors and blood glucose test strips, among other medical supplies.
The equipment is expected to support healthcare workers in providing basic services to patients, particularly those who require mobility assistance and routine monitoring of vital health indicators.
Health Centre Shows Appreciation, Calls for more support
Receiving the donation, Mr Emmanuel Arthur, Physician Assistant at the Mokwa Model Health Centre, expressed appreciation to the Friends Forever Club for supporting the facility.
He described the donation as timely, noting that the health centre was in dire need of several of the items provided.
Mr Arthur, however, appealed for additional assistance to help improve the facility’s capacity to serve residents in the area.
According to him, the health centre needs a full blood count machine, an additional power source such as a plant or generator, and standard patient beds.
He said access to such equipment would help strengthen the facility’s ability to provide healthcare services to people in the community.
Friends Forever Club renews commitment
Professor Benjamin Kweku Anderson, Vice President of the Friends Forever Club, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting institutions and facilities that require assistance.
He said the donation reflected the club’s broader philanthropic responsibility and its desire to contribute to the wellbeing of communities.
The club’s support comes as part of efforts by members to give back to society through initiatives aimed at addressing some of the needs of public institutions.
Call for social clubs to support public institutions
Mr Frank Mbeah Koufie, a patron of the Friends Forever Club, also encouraged social clubs and other community-based organisations to increase their support for state institutions, particularly healthcare facilities.
He stressed that partnerships between social groups and public institutions could help address some of the resource challenges faced by facilities serving local communities.
The donation to the Mokwa Model Health Centre highlights the role community organisations can play in complementing government efforts to improve healthcare delivery.
With additional equipment and resources, health facilities such as the Mokwa Model Health Centre could be better positioned to respond to the needs of residents within their catchment areas.
The Friends Forever Club said it remains committed to its philanthropic activities, while the health centre’s appeal for further support remains an indication of the continued need for resources to strengthen healthcare delivery at the community level.
